How to Reboot Your Tektelic Cellular Gateway

Follow these steps to safely reboot your Tektelic cellular gateway.

You may need to reboot your gateway when it stops working as expected. Sometimes the gateway can lose its cellular signal, freeze, or become unresponsive. Rebooting gives it a fresh start so it can reconnect properly.

Unable to physically access your gateway?

If your gateway is securely mounted or you are otherwise unable to unscrew the battery cover on the back of the gateway, you can:

  1. Unplug the gateway from the power source by disconnecting the power adapter
  2. Wait until the internal battery backup power runs out and it fully powers down — lights are no longer visible or flashing on the front of the gateway. This will take several hours.
  3. Plug the power source back in

Normal reboot procedure

1. Disconnect Power

  • Unplug the power adapter from the gateway.

2. Remove the Battery Cover

  • Using a small Phillips-head screwdriver, carefully remove the two screws located underneath the gateway.
  • Lift off the battery cover.

3. Disconnect the Battery

  • Gently unplug the small battery connector from the gateway.

4. Wait

  • Pause for 10 seconds.

5. Reconnect the Battery

  • Plug the battery connector back in.
  • Replace the battery cover and carefully screw both screws back in.

6. Restore Power

  • Plug the power adapter back into the gateway.

What to Expect After Rebooting

  • The gateway will begin its startup process.
  • It may take up to 20 minutes for cellular connectivity to fully restore.
  • Your sensors will store their readings during this time and will automatically sync all data once connectivity is re-established.
