How to install & connect your temperature monitoring hardware
All of your temperature monitoring hardware (sensors & gateways) comes pre-configured and pre-labelled following the information you have shared with your Operandio Account Manager.
How to install a Cellular Gateway
- The first thing you need to do is identify where in your facility you will be installing your cellular gateway.
- The gateway should ideally be installed within 300 meters / 328 yards of all the sensors that will be connected to it.
- The cellular gateway should be installed somewhere central and out of the way, it also needs a clear 4G or 5G connection (you can test on your cell phone to see if the planned spot has decent connectivity.) It also needs an available power outlet.
- Plug in the gateway to the power source and turn it on.
How to install your temperature/humidity sensors
- Your sensors come pre-labelled and pre-configured based on the information you have shared with your Operandio Account Manager.
- Sensors should be installed within 300 meters / 328 yards of the gateway.
- Before installing your sensor, you need to turn it on. Hold down the button on the front for 5-8 seconds. The sensor will flash green a couple of times, then red. That means the sensor is turned on.
- When installing the sensor, you can use either double sided tape, or the provided zip ties to tightly secure the sensor - it should be placed away from direct air flow and doors inside the fridge/freezer. Underneath or on the side of a rack is a great spot.
- You should see data coming through onto your Sensors Dashboard in Operandio within ~20 minutes (the sensors are set to log temperature every 20 minutes by default - this can be changed later if you wish.
