Creating and editing labels

Labeling is an add-on feature within Operandio. If you want to add labeling features to your account, please get in touch.

If you haven't already, you'll need to create a Label Template first that you can use for your new label.

Creating a new label

Navigate to the Labels section in the main navigation and click the Create button. From the dropdown, select Create a new label which will display a form with the following:

  • Image: This is the reference image that will be displayed in the Labels area of Operandio. It won't be printed on the label itself. If no image is supplied, Operandio will generate one from the label itself.
  • Label name: This is the Name field that will be printed on the label.
  • Locations: Which locations in your business this label will be available at.
  • Category: Create a new category for this label or select an existing one. These categories are visible on the left hand side of the screen on desktop devices and across the top on kiosk and mobile devices.
  • Template: Select the label template you want to use for this label here.

Let's take a look at a newly-created example label. Below the Template field, the label preview section shows how this label will looks when printed.

Editable fields

If the template contains editable fields (like the example above), you'll see a small alert below the label preview and will be able to set values for these fields here. If you expand a section in the editable fields section, you'll see the option to enter a value, depending on the type.

Setting time values for Ready and Discard fields

Here's where you can set Ready or Discard values for this particular label. For example, we can set the Ready time to be 1 hour after the preparation time and for this item to be discarded 1 day after the preparation time. After this is updated, you'll see the new values reflected in the label preview section.

You can set the value as needed from minutes through to months depending on your requirements and you can also choose to set the Discard value to Discard at end of day.

Note that both Ready and Discard times are calculated from the Preparation time.

Setting values for Dynamic Fields

If the template contains Dynamic Text (On Label) fields, these values can be updated here. For example, in this case we could change the cooking terminology from "Baked" to "Grilled" or "Prepared" if we wanted.

Complete and save your label

Once you've completed all the necessary fields and are happy with your label, click Save label to save your changes. Next, it's time to print your label.
