How to install & connect your temperature monitoring hardware
All of your temperature monitoring hardware (sensors & gateways) comes pre-configured and pre-labelled following the information you have shared with your Operandio Account Manager.
Here is what we will cover in this article:
How to install a Cellular Gateway
The first thing you need to do is identify where in your facility you will be installing your cellular gateway.
The gateway should ideally be installed within 300 meters / 328 yards of all the sensors that will be connected to it.
The cellular gateway should be installed somewhere central and out of the way, it also needs a clear 4G or 5G connection (you can test on your cell phone to see if the planned spot has decent connectivity.) It also needs an available power outlet.
Plug in the gateway to the power source and turn it on.
How to install your temperature/humidity sensors
Your sensors come pre-labelled and pre-configured based on the information you have shared with your Operandio Account Manager.
Before mounting, turn each sensor on within 3 to 10 metres (10 to 33 feet) of the gateway, as this is the ideal range for it to connect. Hold down the button on the front for 5 to 8 seconds. The sensor will flash green a couple of times, then red, which means it is on.
Once the sensor is turned on and a reading has transmitted, it can be installed up to 300 metres (328 yards) from the gateway. You can check for the first reading on your Sensors Dashboard in Operandio, which usually appears within about 20 minutes.
Mount the sensor away from direct airflow and doors.
Secure the sensor tightly using double-sided tape or the provided zip ties. Inside the fridge or freezer, underneath or on the side of a rack is a great spot.
Once installed, check your Sensors Dashboard to confirm readings are still coming through from the new position. Sensors log temperature every 20 minutes by default, which can be changed later if you wish.
