"Restricted Site" error on iOS: app won't load or keeps returning to sign-in
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This applies to Operandio on iOS devices. If the app flashes a "Restricted Site" error and bounces you back to the sign-in screen, or never finishes loading the sign-in page, the device's iOS Screen Time settings are blocking Operandio. Open Settings, go to Screen Time, and add Operandio's URLs to the allowed websites list, or switch web content to unrestricted access.
This is caused by a setting on the device, not your Operandio login or the platform. iOS Screen Time has been set to allow only certain websites, and the fix is made in the device's settings.
What you will see
The exact symptom depends on whether the device is registered as a kiosk. To see how each one looks, check the Video walkthrough section below.
If the device is registered as a kiosk device:
The app opens and shows the sign-in screen. When you tap your profile and enter your PIN, an error flashes briefly, headed "Restricted Site" (the full message is often "You cannot browse this page because it is restricted"), then the app returns to the sign-in screen. Entering your PIN again repeats the same loop, so you can never get in.
If the device is not registered as a kiosk, or is a personal device:
You sign in to the app normally with a single profile. Here the block can hit even earlier: the app never finishes loading the sign-in page and just keeps trying to load while flashing the "Restricted Site" error.
Both are the same problem with the same fix. iOS Screen Time is blocking Operandio before the app can load.
Why this happens
The Operandio app loads its content through the device's web view, so iOS Screen Time web content restrictions apply to it the same way they would in Safari. If the device is set to allow only specific websites and Operandio is not on that list, the login is blocked and you are sent back to the start.
Option 1: Add Operandio to allowed websites (recommended)
Use this if the venue wants to keep the device restricted to approved websites only.
Open Settings on the device.
Tap Screen Time.
Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Tap Content Restrictions.
Tap Web Content.
If Allowed Websites Only is turned on, scroll to the Allowed Websites list.
Add the Operandio URLs from the table above to the list.
Return to the Operandio app and sign in again.
You may need the device's Screen Time passcode to change these settings. If you do not have it, speak to whoever set up the device.
Which URLs to allow
Add the following Operandio addresses to the device's allowed websites list. Which one you need depends on how the device is used, but adding all three is the safest option.
How the device is used | URL to allow |
Kiosk mode | |
Personal login mode | |
Mobile browser |
Option 2: Remove web restrictions entirely
Use this only if the venue does not need the device restricted to specific websites.
Open Settings.
Tap Screen Time.
Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
Tap Content Restrictions.
Tap Web Content.
Change the setting to Unrestricted Access.
The device can now load all websites normally, and the kiosk login will work.

Still looping?
If the login still fails after updating these settings, work through these checks.
Confirm every required Operandio URL has been added to the allowed websites list.
Fully close the Operandio app, then restart the device.
If the device is on a corporate or restricted network, check whether a firewall, proxy, DNS filter, or web security tool is blocking Operandio.
Try the device on a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see whether the problem is network-related.
If the kiosk works on another network but not your normal WiFi, your IT team will need to whitelist Operandio's domains on the network.
